Friedrichshain
In this part of the city, you'll still find many anarchists, loitering with their off-leash dogs, or simply soaking up the sun in Boxhagener Platz, together with young families. The neighborhood is also known for its ubiquitous street art, independent film houses, and numerous vegan restaurants, cafés, and shops.
For an authentic Berlin experience visit RAW-Gelände, where the outside walls of these old warehouses serve as a canvas for street art, and the buildings house an indoor skate park, techno club, beer garden, or swimming pool. This side of the Spree river also has the longest remaining piece of the Wall.
