If you love medieval streets and Scottish culture, this is the district for you.

Do you prefer exploring the heart of the city? Then Old Town is the district for you. It is the most visited district, with lots of sights and restaurants. From the famous Edinburgh Castle on the cliff, walk down the old main street past medieval houses, quaint shops and Scottish pubs. Get lost in the narrow, cobbled streets, until you reach the imposing Arthur's Seat and start conquering this hill, with fantastic views of the city as your reward. End the day with a ghost tour or historical tour of the city's underground vaults and a good meal and pint in a pub with live folk music.

Which hotel in Old Town do you choose?

Don't feel like spending hours searching for the perfect hotel and still be sure you're in the right place? We have selected only the finest from the multitude of hotels and B&Bs in Old Town.

    • Apartment

      Aparthotel Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile

Compact, clean, affordable and within walking distance of highlights and hotspots. These studios and flats are a great base to explore the city.

    • Hostel

      A&O city hostel edinburgh

The cosiness of a hostel, but also the comfort to match. There are rooms with bunk beds and regular double rooms, but don't expect too much luxury.

    • Hotel

ibis Edinburgh Centre Royal Mile - Hunter Square

Not a fancy spot, but this hotel is super central and still reasonably affordable. So if you're walking around the city all day anyway, it's worth a consideration.

    • Hotel

Radisson Blu Hotel, Edinburgh City Centre

Good hotel for a rainy weekend. With pool and spa at this hotel, you won't get bored easily. And still want to go out? You're super centrally located.

    • Hotel

      The Inn On The Mile

Hotel with pub, right in the centre. Rooms are clean, spacious and much more modern than the rest of the hotel. The new bathrooms often have a nice bathtub.
