From the city centre, cross the bridge and you are a totally different world of peace and nature, but with the city in sight!
On the south side and in the Rhine floodplains are Meinerswijk, de Praets and Malburgen-West. Meinerswijk is a nature area where there is peace and quiet and animals are present; you might just bump into wild horses or Galloway cattle and spot birds. The area has a huge history of which you can still clearly see the remains, such as a castellum that was built to defend the northern border of the Roman Empire. Buurtschap de Praets is part of Meinerswijk. There, you have great views of the city. Malburgen-West is separated from the northern side by the Rhine. You can reach the city centre from here via two bridges.
