If you like hustle and bustle, head to the Spijkerkwartier.
By far the most vibrant neighbourhood in Arnhem, an urban area with stately buildings and always bustling in the streets. Once known for prostitution, it has now disappeared. What remains is its conviviality and diversity. Artists and students live here, young and old, in rented or owner-occupied houses. There is something for everyone. The shops you find here are as diverse as the inhabitants; from second-hand to design, cafés, a neighbourhood supermarket, bakery and butcher. You'll find it all here; Steenstraat in particular is popular and fun to walk through, if only to see the diversity.
