Mingle with the hip and artsy locals who descend on one of the many terraces here in the evening.
Kerameikos is the district for those who love a rich history as well as hip, up-and-coming neighbourhoods. Kerameikos was one of Athens' most important neighbourhoods in ancient times; part of the city wall ran through it. Two of the main gates to Athens were also in Kerameikos. Many potters worked and lived there, thanks to the river that flowed here and provided clay and water. Today, Kerameikos is one of the city's up-and-coming neighbourhoods, full of unusual restaurants and cafés, and popular with young and creative Athens.
