With its many second-hand shops and Sunday morning flea market, Monastiraki is the district for vintage lovers.
Monastiraki is the district to be in if it can't be bustling enough for you. The district comprises the lively Plateia Monastiraki (Monastiraki Square) with its street performers, flower vendors and rooftop bars. In the narrow, car-free streets, shopping is a mix between souvenir shops and shops selling second-hand household goods. On Sunday mornings, a flea market crowded by Greeks takes place here. The terraces on Adrianou are ideal for a glass of wine with views of the ancient Agora and the Acropolis. Relax in the greenery in the adjacent park.
