This is the place to go if you want to get to know an up-and-coming neighbourhood and discover some hidden gems amongst the high-rise buildings.
Wedding is a great place if youâre looking for a raw, up-and-coming neighbourhood. Before the war, Wedding was just as much a working-class district as Prenzlauer Berg. But after the city was divided, the workersâ homes here in West Berlin had to make way for cheap high-rise blocks to tackle the housing shortage, due to the lack of space caused by the Wall. For a long time, Wedding was a neighbourhood youâd rather avoid, but these days itâs really on the up. Artists and students are flocking to the area because of the low rents, and with them come pop-up restaurants, coffee shops and experimental art initiatives. Thereâs more to do in the neighbourhood by the day.
