This is where you go if you want to get to know a neighbourhood on the rise and look for gems among the high-rise buildings.
Wedding is nice if you are looking for a raw up-and-coming neighbourhood. Before the war, Wedding was exactly such a working-class neighbourhood as Prenzlauer Berg. But after the division of the city, the working-class houses here in West Berlin, lacking space due to the Wall, had to make way for cheap high-rise buildings to cope with the housing shortage. For a long time, Wedding was a neighbourhood you preferred not to go to, but nowadays the neighbourhood is really on the rise. Artists and students are moving into the neighbourhood because of its low rents, and pop-up restaurants, coffee shops and experimental art initiatives are following with them. By the day, there is more to experience in the neighbourhood.
