Visit one of the old monasteries and take a walk along the city walls
The Old Town of Dubrovnik has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. It is enclosed by historic city walls and cars are not permitted within it. You enter via one of the three gateways: Pile (the main gate on the west side), Ploče (on the east side) and Buža (on the north side). Once inside the Old Town, you find yourself in a maze of narrow streets, alleys and stairways. Just outside the city walls lies the old harbour.
