De Bergen is Eindhoven's liveliest neighbourhood due to the large number of cool shops and fun places to eat. Always something to do!
Eindhoven's city centre has had a tough time because of war destruction and demolition in the 1960s and 1970s. You will find many modern buildings, but also some striking buildings from the heyday of Philips. Expats and students abound here. In the Bergen district, the atmosphere is very different. It still has some historic buildings, where the more unusual shops and eateries are located. The Bergstraat and Kleine Berg are known as the chicer streets, full of restaurants and boutiques.
