Super cool to see how the old Philip history has been preserved and these neighbourhoods are now buzzing like never before.
Strijp-S used to be known as the 'forbidden city'. Only Philips employees with an access pass could enter, otherwise it was forbidden territory. Now it is an open and innovative neighbourhood where many creative people live and work. Hip start-ups like to settle here, which is also reflected in the ever-widening range of nice shops and eating places in the former Philips factories. On neighbouring Strijp-R, many old Philips buildings have been demolished and you now find a modern residential area with the Dutch Design hotspot of renowned designer Piet Hein Eek right in the middle.
