The Financial District is the oldest and most developed part of New York. The neighbourhood is steeped in history; it was here that the city was named in 1644 and the New York we know today began to take shape. Take a stroll through The Battery for views of the Hudson and hop on the free ferry to see the Statue of Liberty.
Take a moment to reflect at the 9/11 Memorial. Despite this turbulent history, the city has risen above it all, and an impressive memorial site has been created. Walk past the world-famous Stock Exchange and stand on the spot where George Washington’s first inauguration took place. Be sure to pop into the National Museum of Native American Art.
