The cosy Bottendaal neighbourhood dates from around 1900. There are plenty of cosy restaurants and bars, making it a very nice extension of the city centre. There is always activity in the evening, partly due to the centrally located pubs Maxim and De Kluizenaar. The Dobbelman factory used to stand in this neighbourhood. The old chimney behind the Thiemeloods is a reminder of this. There are now new buildings on the factory site and today Bottendaal is one of Nijmegen's most popular neighbourhoods.
