In Vinohrady, Žižkov and Karlín, you’ll find Prague’s trendiest shops and best restaurants, away from the tourist crowds.
Vinohrady is a stately, sophisticated residential area just outside the city centre, known for its excellent restaurants and trendy boutiques. Here you can escape the tourist crowds and will mainly encounter locals and expats.
Žižkov is traditionally a working-class neighbourhood with a somewhat rough-and-ready character. The neighbourhood’s landmark is the 216-metre-high television tower featuring the giant babies by artist David Černy. The tower, with its observation deck, is a popular nightspot.
Karlín is also a former working-class neighbourhood. The neighbourhood made a fresh start after the floods of 2002 and is now one of Prague’s leading districts in terms of culture and cuisine.
