Vinohrady, Žižkov and Karlín are home to Prague's hippest shops and best restaurants, away from the tourist crowds.
Vinohrady is a stately, fashionable residential area just outside the city centre known for its fine restaurants and hip boutiques. Here you can escape the tourist crowds and meet mostly locals and expats.
Žižkov is traditionally a working-class district with a somewhat rough character. The district's landmark is the 216-metre television tower with its giant babies by artist David Černy. The tower with its observation deck is a popular entertainment spot.
Karlín is also a former working-class neighbourhood. The district made a fresh start after the 2002 flood and is now one of Prague's leading cultural and culinary districts.
