If you’re looking for the peace and space that Rotterdam has to offer, this is the place to be. This inhabited island in the Nieuwe Maas is conveniently linked to the north bank by the bright red Willemsbrug. You can walk straight to Zuid via the short Koninginnebrug. Ons Park is a lovely place to spend some time; if you walk up onto the dyke here, you’ll have a direct view of De Hef, the historic railway bridge. From the quays, the city’s skyline is unrivalled. Especially from the tip of the island, you have a magnificent view of the Zwaan, as the Erasmus Bridge is also known. In summer, you can dine on the old bridge abutment of the former Maas bridges.
