In the relatively unknown but up-and-coming town of El Porvenir, foodies can indulge to their heart’s content.
For an up-and-coming neighbourhood, El Porvenir is the place to be. This still relatively undiscovered neighbourhood emerged in the 1820s around the market gardens of El Prado. Renowned local architects built regionalist villas there for wealthy families, and during the Industrial Revolution, many factories were also established in the area. The beautiful ceramic azulejos (tiles) on some of the façades still serve as a reminder of this. Foodies in particular will be in their element here; the neighbourhood is rapidly making a name for itself on the gastronomic map. Many bars offer modern cuisine where flavours and textures are combined to create surprising tapas and dishes.
