Seville and water, that's what this district is all about. But true culture nerds won't be short of anything here either!
If you are looking for peace and greenery in ever-bustling Seville, La Cartuja is the place to be. On the west side of the Guadalquivir is Isla de la Cartuja, an 'island' where until the late 1980s you could only find meadows and a small monastery. Now it is characterised by the large pavilions built here for the 1992 World Expo. This Expo '92 was organised to commemorate the discovery of America and was entirely dedicated to water. Its location is therefore not surprising. Along the banks of the river, you can unwind in the botanical gardens.
