La Barceloneta
Until recently, La Barceloneta was an authentic fishing neighborhood. But with the 1992 Summer Olympics and construction of its urban beach, this area transformed into a hotspot for tourists. It can get very crowded here, especially in the summertime. This is also a great place if you like seafood and the popular national dish paella. Dive into the back alleys to discover the original Barceloneta. Here, you can enjoy traditional tapas in noisy cafés, while outside laundry hangs to dry from the balconies above, and the locals exchange the latest gossip. The old harbor, with its Museu d’Història de Catalunya, is also worth visiting.
