Williamsburg (Brooklyn)
Just across the East River lies the newly creative Williamsburg neighborhood. As recently as the early 1990s this area was still a no-go zone; Now, it is one of the most desirable neighborhoods of Brooklyn. Williamsburg is a melting pot of different nationalities and people of all ages. International students and young couples live side by side here with Hasidic Jews and Puerto Rican families. Since property developers discovered the neighborhood, several years ago, the housing market has exploded, making rents just as expensive as Manhattan's most pricey areas. But the atmosphere is still raw and edgy, with a cheeky charm unique to Brooklyn.
