There is a lively and colourful atmosphere around Eigelstein. In Agnesviertel, on the other hand, you can relax.
Around Eigelstein you will find a mix of more raw, urban influences and a primeval Cologne atmosphere, coupled with Turkish and Mediterranean lifestyles. The doner kebab shops here are extremely popular (especially if the meat comes from the charcoal grill) and in summer the terraces under the old city gate are almost always packed. All this bustle and turbulence is compensated in the Agnesviertel to the north, a still traditional Cologne residential area with pretty avenues and cosy cafés. The Rosengarten is a great place to relax. If you like modern sculpture, be sure to visit the Skulpturenpark.
