Südstadt is a popular district in the south of Cologne. You will find an authentic atmosphere with beautiful buildings from the Gründerzeit period. Wandering through its pretty streets and avenues, you will see boutiques, galleries, cafés and good restaurants everywhere. It is busy and cluttered, but not as much as in the touristy Altstadt. The southern Rheinauhafen with its spectacular architecture can also be reached quickly from here. In the other direction is the beautiful Volksgarten, a classical-style park with a rowing pond and an atmospheric beer garden. Especially on a summer evening, it's a great place to linger!
