The neighbourhood for lovers of architecture and culture. Georgian houses sit alongside cosy pubs and trendy restaurants.
If you’re a museum lover, Southside is the perfect place for you. It’s also a great neighbourhood if you have a passion for architecture. You’ll find stately Georgian houses with their characteristic coloured doors. There’s so much to see around the Merrion and Fitzwilliam Square public gardens. On Sundays, Merrion Square transforms into an open-air gallery, where you can buy works by Irish amateur artists who often create beautiful city and coastal scenes. Merrion Square is also home to the entrance to the impressive National Gallery of Ireland, and just round the corner you’ll find the National Museum of Archaeology and the National Library, both housed in Victorian buildings.
