My favourite part of town is Graça, because a fairly large number of Portuguese still live here and you can find the most beautiful viewpoints.
Lisbon was born on the Tagus River. Here you will find the old fishing district of Alfama, known for its fado restaurants and the Castelo de São Jorge, with stunning views over the city. Here you can wander through the maze of narrow alleys and old staircases or catch tram 28; which takes you into the Alfama, Castelo and Graça districts, where several miradouros (viewpoints) can be found. The famous Feira da Ladra flea market also takes place on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and there are numerous terraces, restaurants and cafés for a nice break on your exploration of these neighbourhoods.
