This beautiful neighbourhood is popular with tourists and locals alike. Be sure to taste the famous pastéis de Belém too .
Belém is a quiet but culturally infused district. From here, Portuguese explorers set off on their journey across the sea. The many museums and monuments from the 16th century are reminders of this. Besides historical buildings and botanical gardens, it is also home to the famous pastéis de Belém: puff pastries with cream, cinnamon and sugar. The riverside promenade is a nice walk; after all the sights, be sure to sit down by the water where sailing boats pass by.
