Fancy combining your city break in Lisbon with a trip to the beach? Then Cascais is the perfect place.
The seaside resort of Cascais is 30 kilometres from Lisbon. It takes 40 minutes to get there from Cais do Sodré station: a lovely train journey along the coast, the Costa de Estoril. Once you arrive in Cascais, you can stroll past authentic buildings and little squares or hire a bike and enjoy the fresh air at Boca do Inferno. In the centre, you’ll find the Mercado da Vila, selling fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. If you walk out of the centre, you can head to the popular surfing beach at Guincho on foot or by bus. Still in Cascais at the end of the day? Then watch the sunset from the beach or a terrace.
