Whether you visit these neighbourhoods in the afternoon or in the evening, the streets are always bustling here.

Príncipe Real is Lisbon’s artistic neighbourhood and, as such, is popular with designers and entrepreneurs, who are setting up design shops and restaurants there. It is a green neighbourhood thanks to the botanical garden and the Jardim do Príncipe Real. Bairro Alto is Lisbon’s working-class neighbourhood and literally means ‘high neighbourhood’. These days, it is a more alternative neighbourhood with tattoo shops, fado cafés and trendy pubs. In the evenings, this part of the city is popular with young people because of its lively atmosphere, which is centred mainly on the streets and around the miradouros (viewpoints).
