Combine a picnic in Jardim da Estrela park with a visit to the local food hall, Mercado de Campo de Ourique.
If you prefer to explore Lisbon from a slightly quieter neighbourhood, this is the place for you. The São Bento district is home to the Portuguese Parliament. It is also home to many antique shops, some of which have been in the same family for generations. Next to São Bento lies one of Lisbon’s more affluent neighbourhoods: Estrela. This neighbourhood is best known for the Basilica da Estrela and the stunning Jardim da Estrela. With its exotic plants, cafés and a playground, this park is a lovely place to relax amongst the greenery. The Campo de Ourique neighbourhood has a cosy atmosphere and is home to a famous landmark: the house of the poet Fernando Pessoa.
