If you’re a fan of urban architecture and cool street art, and don’t mind a good long walk, then this neighbourhood is definitely for you.
This is the place to be if you love 1930s urban architecture, with plenty of concrete and high-rise buildings. The Lyon-based urban planner Tony Garnier designed this neighbourhood based on his vision of an ideal city. The absolute highlight is the Musée Urbain Tony Garnier, an open-air museum where you can stroll past giant murals created by various artists. Every façade is a surprise. On your way to the museum, you’ll pass some remarkable frescoes: La Tour de Babel with its three murals, the Chinese ‘Fresque de Shanghai’, the impressive image of a girl at play on the ‘Fresque au Civil Inconnu’ and the colourful fantasy creature Elefanka.
