If you love shopping and art, then Presqu’île, with its concept stores, antique shops and the Musée des Beaux-Arts, is the neighbourhood for you.
Presqu’île is the neighbourhood for shopping enthusiasts: shop till you drop. From expensive French luxury brands around Place Bellecour and well-known high-street brands on Rue de la République to original concept stores and antique shops on Rue Auguste-Comte. On Saturdays, it’s so busy you can barely move. It’s also the neighbourhood home to the magnificent town hall, adorned with golden decorations. Also on Place Terreaux, you’ll find the Musée des Beaux-Arts, with a fine collection of Egyptian artefacts and a surprisingly peaceful courtyard garden. At Place des Célestins, you can admire a really cool work of art by Daniel Buren in a car park – it’s definitely worth a detour.
