Lover of contemporary architecture? This is the place to be! You will keep looking up at the imposing structures around you.
As an architecture lover, Céramique is the place to be. The district came into being in the early 1990s, when the ceramics factory Société Céramique ceased operations. Government architect Jo Coenen was appointed to turn this area into a place for high-quality living and working. And he succeeded. Together with an array of leading southern European architects, he gave the area a Mediterranean character with striking buildings, including Centre Céramique, the Bonnefantenmuseum, the Wiebenga hall, Siza's tower and so much more. There is nowhere else in the city where past and present come together in such a special way.
