Love shopping? Then Salamanca is the place to be. It’s also a great spot for people-watching; the Spaniards here are really dressed to impress.
To the north of the Parque del Buen Retiro lies Salamanca, Madrid’s most upmarket neighbourhood. This is the place to go shopping, as it’s teeming with well-known fashion houses and exclusive boutiques. You’ll also find the larger, more affordable high-street chains here. There’s no shortage of excellent (and upmarket) restaurants and cafés either. More so than in other Madrid neighbourhoods, Salamanca is all about seeing and being seen, and you’ll come across plenty of smartly dressed Madrileños here. Keep your eyes peeled, as you might just spot a celebrity here.
