The San Giuseppe and Porto neighbourhoods are ideal if you want to explore the bustling heart of the city. The centrepiece is the main shopping street, Via Toledo. Here you’ll find both stately 16th- and 17th-century buildings and large, modern structures. You’ll also discover a blend of architecture and traditions, as well as squares such as Piazza Dante, surrounded by bookshops and music shops. What’s more, there’s Piazza Gesù Nuovo with its impressive surrounding churches, and Piazza Municipio with its stunning metro station, where you can admire the Fontana del Nettuno. There’s no shortage of good food and lovely cafés here.
