The Champ de Mars, the park in front of the Eiffel Tower, has no closing time and is therefore ideal for an evening picnic.
On the one hand, you’re right in the heart of the city’s tourist district, yet at the same time, much of the neighbourhood is remarkably quiet. The tourist hub centres around the Eiffel Tower. This unmissable highlight is a must-see on any first visit to Paris. Further on lies the historic Hôtel des Invalides, a monument of which the French are very proud. If you head a little further south into the neighbourhood, you’ll find yourself in Grenelle. This quieter part of the neighbourhood is mainly home to Parisians. So, even though you’re close to the Eiffel Tower, you suddenly find yourself right in the midst of the locals.
