Don't skip Monti if you like fashion, wine, Italian food and galleries. This is the district where Romans like to drink.
For a cosy neighbourhood with an urban vibe, Monti is the place to be. Monti, roughly the neighbourhood between Termini and the Colosseum, was once a district full of brothels, cheap taverns and artisans' workshops. Those workshops are still there, though they now belong to artists and designers. The taverns have been transformed into modern wine bars. You can feast on street food here or dine in one of the many trattorias. The combination of the somewhat dilapidated buildings, the large park and the hip scene makes for an attractive film set. Just outside all the hustle and bustle is the church San Pietro in Vincoli, with Michelangelo's Moses.
