Schiedam is the Distillers District of the Netherlands, but also a city of art, culture and home to the six tallest windmills in the world.
Schiedam is just a 15-minute tram or metro ride from Rotterdam city centre. The town is known as the Dutch Distillers District, but it has much more to offer. In the old historic town centre, you can stroll from unique museums and galleries to bars, restaurants and cafés where local produce is celebrated. The combination of history and architecture, with its countless coffee shops and cosy terraces, makes Schiedam well worth a visit, and a trip to one of the distilleries for a jenever or gin tasting is, of course, an absolute must.
