Lombok is a melting pot of all kinds of cultures. This makes for a busy but super cosy multiculti neighbourhood.
Lombok is the successful realisation of the multicultural society. In this neighbourhood, students, two-income couples and native Utrechters live together fraternally with their Moroccan and Turkish neighbours. It is a very lively neighbourhood with the bustling Kanaalstraat at its centre. Here, the street scene is defined by vegetable stalls on the pavement and honking scooters making their way past the double-parked cars. Residents do their shopping or have a bite to eat at the Surinamese or the neighbourhood café, while the call to prayer echoes through the streets.
