The fishing villages of Cabanyal, Canyamelar, Cap de França and Malvarossa make up the Poblats Marítims. After more than 30 years of political wrangling over the destination of this district, the knot has finally been cut. The area will be refurbished, while retaining the existing monumental buildings. This decision has given the neighbourhood a new impetus. Many properties are now being bought up and innovative entrepreneurs are starting fun initiatives here. Wine bodegas, alternative bars and traditional tapas bars adorn the streets. Also worth a visit are the Museo del Arroz and the museum of Easter processions, Museo Semana Santa Marinera.
