This is the district of the Biennale, the Arsenale and San Pietro Cathedral, but you also have the most beautiful sunsets here.
Discover Venice from a quieter but cosy neighbourhood in Castello East. Iconic for this district is the imposing Arsenale, where many ships used to be built. Until about 15 years ago, Castello East was a real working-class district, but that has completely changed with the art and architecture exhibitions of the Biennale. Now on Via Garibaldi you will find all kinds of restaurants, bars and local shops. More and more people are also moving into this part of Venice, as house prices are still affordable. Laundry hangs outside, children go to school: you can see the 'ordinary' life of Venetians here.
