Piazza del Popolo was once the most important entry gate to the city of Rome. Very few tourists make the effort to explore the area north of this famous square, but it is definitely worthwhile. Via Flaminia starts here, and continues all the way to Rimini. One of the highlights along this road is the Auditorium Parco della Musica. This multifunctional music complex opened in 2002, and within a few years became Europe's most visited music facility. The concert venue and festival terrain are popular cultural meeting grounds, drawing over 2 million people annually.
