Porto Fluviale's courtyard (a former warehouse) is one of my favourite places for an aperitivo.
For hip and urban Rome, this is the place to be. The Ostiense neighbourhood, around Via Ostiense, is the former industrial district where, among other things, the gas storage was. Ostiense gets hipper by the day, has many bars and restaurants and beautiful street art (my favourite is 'Hunting Pollution'). The Centrale Montemartini museum is really not to be missed. The Ostiense district is bigger and includes the Garbatella neighbourhood. This 1920s neighbourhood is popular! Lots of low-rise buildings, lots of greenery and lots of street art and nice bars here too. Initially, many inner-city residents moved here whose houses did not make it through Mussolini's building frenzy.
