Nice to pick up an exhibition at St Peter's Abbey. And what a beautiful garden is attached to the abbey!
This is the ideal district if the atmosphere can't be lively enough for you. In the southern part of Ghent you will find most students. The university and college are intensely intertwined with the city in this part. The district therefore owes its lively character to the enthusiastic youngsters. But there is more. Centrally in this district you will find Woodrow Wilson Square, better known as the South. In the park behind the former city library, you could once find the city's first tristation. From here, you can reach the city centre via Vlaanderenstraat, where the slightly fancier shops, coffee bars, nice cafés and restaurants succeed each other.
