Stop at the red lady on the Slachthuis Bridge and enjoy the beautiful view as well as the peace and quiet.
Ghent - Ganda in Latin - originated at the confluence of the Scheldt and the Leie rivers. Where those two rivers meet, today you will find Portus Ganda, the city's transient marina. Like many marinas, there is often a holiday atmosphere in this area. The wide wooden jetty is a nice place to pause and sunbathe. Now this is one of the city's most idyllic spots, but it was once different. In 1960, the Lower Scheldt - the place where Scheldt and Leie merge - was filled in to make parking space. But in 2005, the marina got there, and since 2018 the Lower Scheldt has also been open again.
