Culture and history enthusiasts will be in their element in Stare Miasto, where Kraków’s rich history is evident everywhere.
If you’re a fan of architecture and culture and are looking for a charming neighbourhood, this is the place for you. Many buildings in Kraków survived the Second World War. Stare Miasto, or the ‘Old Town’, is proof of this. Much of the city centre’s original splendour has been restored to its former glory. Here you’ll find many attractions, such as Wawel Castle and Planty Park. The beating heart of the district is Rynek Główny, Europe’s largest medieval market square. Further out towards the edge of the city centre, you get a glimpse of everyday life in Poland. People do their shopping here and gather in the many trendy coffee shops and cafés.
