This is your district if you like the Spanish conviviality. At Argüelles and Universidad you can nicely see how the city got bigger bit by bit. Argüelles is a quiet middle-class neighbourhood. It is located between Parque del Oeste, where you can admire the Templo de Debod, and Calle de la Princesa. On the other side of this avenue is Universidad. This district is a bit more alternative and student-like. Here you will find the Conde Duque, a building complex with a very diverse cultural offer. In the streets of Universidad, you'll come across many nice shops and eateries. At the end of the day, the terraces on Plaza de las Comendadoras beckon.
